What it is

From 18 February 2027 every industrial battery with a capacity above 2 kWh placed on the Union market has an electronic passport (Article 77). Public information can be read by anyone without registering; other information is reserved to persons with a legitimate interest, market surveillance authorities and notified bodies (Annex XIII).

Restricted information

Restricted passport information is accessible to persons with a legitimate interest (repairers, second-life operators, recyclers, researchers), market surveillance authorities, notified bodies and the battery owner.
